USA Diving will send 16 divers to compete in the 2008 Junior World Championships in Aachen, Germany, September 16-21. The competition will feature divers from 41 nations, including, Canada, Australia, Russia, China, Germany, and Mexico.
Heading the list of U.S. divers will be Michelle Cabassol, Kaylea Arnett, and Kristian Ipsen.
Ipsen was a double winner at the 2008 Speedo Junior National Championships in August, winning both the three-meter and platform titles in the 16-18 age group. In July, he finished second to 2008 Olympian Troy Dumais on three-meter at the Kaiser Permanente National Diving Championships, and also competed at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Diving, finishing fifth on three-meter.
Cabassol and Arnett, teammates at The Woodlands Diving Academy outside of Houston, won a senior national title in synchronized platform at the Kaiser Permanente National Diving Championships, and both participated at the Olympic Team Selection Camp in synchronized platform. Cabassol swept the junior national titles in the 14-15 age group, with Arnett finishing second to her in each of the events.
