As we head to the Games of the XXIX Olympiad in Beijing, springboard and platform diving will continue to be one of the more popular sports on the Olympic program.

The 2008 Olympic Games will no doubt be a showcase for China as this nation of 1.3 billion people attempts to showcase their growth as a nation.

As for diving... Will the U.S. make a run at reclaiming its throne? Will the Chinese divers relish the opportunity to shine on the world stage in their own backyard? Can the Australians carry the momentum from their five medals in Athens to Beijing? And the most important question is . . . who will stage the next big upset and embrace the Olympic moto of Citius, Altius, Fortius.

Maybe it will be the Greeks, they did invent the games!
