Men's Olympic Platform Competition

From , former About.com Guide

Men's platform is the marquee event of the diving competition and is the longest running of the diving events, first being contested in 1904. Of the 23 gold medals awarded, 11 have been won by five divers who have dominated the competition - Sammy Lee (USA) in 1948 and 1952, Bob Webster (USA) in 1960 and 1964, Klaus Dibiasi (ITA) in 1968, 1972 and 1976, and Greg Louganis (USA) in 1984 and 1988. China has won three of the last four gold medals but 2008 World Cup Champion Sascha Klein of Germany and Americans Thomas Finchum and David Boudia could give the Chinese divers a run for their money.
