U.S. Junior Divers Will Compete at British Elite Junior Diving Championships
Qualifiers Will Come From East/West Junior Nationals

By Woody Franklin, About.com

Top U.S. junior divers will have the opportunity to compete at the 2008 British Elite Junior Diving Championships in a self-funded trip sponsored by USA Diving. The championships, which will take place in Leeds, England, run from May 27-30, 2008.

The team and coaching staff for the British Elite Junior Diving Championships will be selected from the results of the 2008 Spring East/West Championships. The top two divers out of the East/West Championships in each age group will be eligible to attend the trip. These top two divers will be determined by the total amount of team points scored in their combined events. In the case of divers declining to attend, divers will be chosen from the third, fourth or fifth-place combined finisher for each age group. Selection for the team will not go lower than the fifth-place combined finisher. The four coaches will be selected based on number of spots on the team, with a series of tiebreakers also in place.

The team can include 32 divers and 4 coaches. Two team leaders will also be selected through an application process.
