By , About.com Guide

Definition: A springboard is a 16-foot aluminum diving board that is used in diving competitions from two different heights above the water: one-meter (3 ft., 3 in.) and three-meter (9 ft., 9 in.). A springboard is mounted on a diving stand and the mid-point of the board sits upon a moveable fulcrum that the diver uses to adjust the amount of spring they receive.
