I must admit that I have never watched Dancing With The Stars, but I can guarantee you that I would watch a reality show that puts a celebrity on the platform! According to several media outlets, ABC has purchased a reality show entitled, "Celebrity Splash."
The premise of the show is similar to Dancing with the Stars, in that celebrities are pitted against each other in a weekly diving contest. The show is modeled on the Dutch series "Sterren Springen." As in the Dutch show, each week the celebrities that participate are asked to do more and more difficult dives and they are eliminated until one "diver" is deemed the winner.
What average American would not want to watch Lindsay Lohan smack off 5-meter! I for one would. Of course, who would they get to participate? It is hard to imagine any of our most famous "stars" putting themselves in the position to both put on a bathing suit, and then get out of the pool with a couple of welts on their legs. And who would be the coaches? I can imagine a long line of coaches who would sign up to participate.
Would this be a good thing for the sport? It definitely would increase exposure, but on the other hand it might trivialize a diving competition, especially with regard to the judges.
But it would be interesting to see Laura Wilkinson interview Justin Timberlake after he does a face plant from 10-meter!
Watch the video. It is quite entertaining, even if you can't understand what they are saying.
