The U.S. finished the first leg of the 2008 FINA World Series with one silver and three bronze medals. The event, which took place in Tijuana, Mexico, is the first stop on the three meet series that pits international divers competing on three continents.

Leading the way for the U.S. was David Boudia (Noblesville, Ind.) who won a silver medal in men’s 10-meter platform. Boudia also captured the bronze in the synchronized 10-meter with partner Thomas Finchum (Indianapolis). Boudia and Finchum also teamed for a sixth place finish in synchronized three-meter.

For the women, Kelci Bryant (Chatham, Ill.) won an individual bronze medal in the three-meter springboard event, and teamed with Ariel Rittenhouse (Santa Cruz, Calif.) for another bronze in the synchronized three-meter. The duo of Haley Ishimatsu (Seal Beach, Calif.) and Mary Beth Dunnichay (Elwood, Ind.) finished fifth in synchronized 10-meter platform, and Ishimatsu finished fourth in her individual contest on 10-meter. The second leg of the FINA World Series will take place May 24-25 in Sheffield, Great Britain.
